Precarn Announces $4 million T-GAP funding for Small and Start-up Companies

Ottawa, Ontario - March 31, 2010 - Precarn Incorporated announces new round of funding for industrial T-GAP, its program targeted at helping small and startup companies working in intelligent systems get their products to market faster. T-GAP funding for this round is $4 million.

Research Clears Path for Powered Wheelchairs - Whee!!

A new research initiative based at UBC aims to provide users of powered wheelchairs with helping hand. Funded by a six-year, $1.5 million Emerging Team Grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, a multidisciplinary team of researchers will investigate how older adults are currently using powered wheelchairs, how they can be used better, and how the chairs themselves can be improved. The answers to these questions will improve knowledge and understanding in the field of aging and mobility research.

Vancouver-based Geosys Technology Solutions has won a B.C. government contract to provide aerial mapping services for emergency management and public safety purposes related to the 2010 Games. Tuesday, May 26, Kelowna, BC – The Canadian Artificial Intelligence Association / Association pour l'intelligence artificielle au Canada (CAIAC) and Precarn Incorporated today announced the winners of the first annual CAIAC-Precarn Canadian Intelligent Systems Challenge at the Intelligent Systems Collaborative Conference. The overall winning team was from the University of British Columbia. The winner in the graduate student category was a team from the University of Waterloo.

Ottawa, Ontario - October 28, 2008 - In an effort to help small Canadian businesses prosper in spite of uncertain economic times, Ottawa-based Precarn Incorporated has announced $1.9 million in funding for 12 companies nationally to help bring their intelligent systems products to market faster. Precarn is providing $668,000 of the total funding through its Industrial Technology Gap (iT-GAP) program an initiative aimed at supporting small or start-up businesses with an infusion of up to $60,000 per company with the remaining funds provided by project partners.
